About Us

Since its founding in 2013, the French-American Heritage Foundation of Minnesota (FAHF) has worked to preserve, advance, and celebrate the unique stories of French-speaking people who have helped shape our state.

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing the rich contributions of French and French-Canadian explorers, settlers, and community leaders throughout Minnesota’s history.

Our Core

FAHF fulfills its mission through three core pillars of work:

  • Preservation: We conduct original historical research and publish scholarly resources, including the definitive, award-winning book series, They Spoke French.
  • Advancement: We provide educational opportunities and fund annual grants to support new research, cultural projects, and preservation efforts across Minnesota.
  • Celebration: We host community events, lectures, and cultural programs that connect our heritage with the present day, bringing these stories to life for new audiences.
